I built Frank Pittelli's, air assisted, "Tubular Magazine", paintball
feed system:
http://www.rctankcombat.com/articles/tubular-magazine/

and was dissapointed when it did not work.
I tapped my barrel and ran a hose to the magazine as described in the
"How To" article.
There was practally no air pressure available to push the paintballs
down the magazine.
I was dissapointed, after building the system, drilling holes in my
turret and barrel, etc, and it not working.

BUT:

I salvaged the idea.
I got a 24 volt, electric operated air valve.
I supply the valve with 60 PSI from a small welding (oxygen)
regulator.
The oxygen regulator is tapped into the 450 PSI, regulated pressure,
from my 63 cubic inch air tank.

It is so powerfull that it will feed paintballs uphill!
If you turn up the pressure, it will expell the paint ball out the
barrel at low velocity.
If you turn up the pressure to 125 PSI, it will move the paintballs
with such force as to break them in the magazine!

Right now, I am operating the air valve manually.
It only takes a very, very, very short burst of air to move the balls.

When it is finished, it will include a timing system that will perform
the following sequence:
1 RC transitter signels "fire"
2 Rc reciever turns on a "servo switch" to activate the timing system.
3 timing system triggers the firing solenoid on the gun, and gun fires
4 timing system waits for .5 seconds, then pulses the air valve to
move paintballs down the magazine, for the next shot.

The timing system delays the burst of air to the magazine, until the
gun has finished shooting the paintball. This keeps the magazine air
demand from interfering with shooting the paintball.
The system will have adjustable air pressure(the oxygen regulator),
and adjustable air pulse duration (from the timing system).

Tubular magazine is from 3/4 inch copper tubing, and holds 40 balls.
It has a 45 degree elbow, a 90 degree elbow, and two straight
sections.

When complete, I will post pictures of the system.
