Are you talking about the Rexnord Table-top conveyor chain like on my M113?

If so it works great, but I do tend to loose/break quite a few of the
plastic tops. Luckily I have tons of spares. Even when they break, it
doesn't affect it's mobility. I have lost up to 7 pads on a track in a row
and the tracks still stay on and keep the APC moving along quite nicely.
Some of the reason mine come off is that the sprocket is mounted too close
to the track sponson.
The pads sometimes smack the sponson and come off. The M113 rebuild in PVC
will fix this issue. A little epoxy might fix it too, but I'd have to make
sure it didn't interfere with the motion of the track. I'd like to try and
make it amphibious in the rebuild of the chassis using the rear suplimental
gas tanks as pontoons and creating a double walled track sponson that is
hollow to also act as pontoons. The final pontoon would be created by the
wave shield on the front. I'm sure by the time I get back for my first R&R,
my wife will have us moved into a new house in Austin, TX. The one she's
looking at has a nice oversized 3 car garage with an area for me to set up
my wood working tools.
