Trying to get ready for the Mid Alantic Spring Battle. My radio was a 10 year old FM, on an aircraft channel, so I bought a new radio, A Fatuba 6EX . Its one of those 2.4 GHZ spread spectrum radios. Did a range test out to 225 yards and it was solid as a rock!!! The tank looks really small at that distance!
Trying to do as much reliability testing as I can before the battle. It has 2.5 hours of running sence the last track / drive system failure (it threw a track because track tension was too low), so thats running well. I have 160 paintballs through the gun with no feed failures, but the air runs out in 100 shots. I gotta do some more work on that problem. I still have one radio glitch - The gun slowly raises to full elevation when I drive forward. When the tank stops the gun goes back down. I have really long wires from the radio (in the rear of the tank) to the elevate servo (in the turret). Running the servo wires in shielded cable helped a little. Grounding the battery to the aluminum hull also helped a little. I put capacitors in the motor leads, but that made no difference. This glitch existed with the old FM radio Also. Not sure what to do from here, but maybe I'll run all the wires in shielded cable? I still need to try grounding the motor controler to the hull. right now its mounted on a PVC plastic deck, so its insulated. I run this thing continously for 20 munites, and the morors are barly warm. There are no cooling fans. Mark -- You are currently subscribed to the "R/C Tank Combat" group.
