i'm not sure what i'm seeing in picture 3811, besides the solder, do i see epoxy? are you having trouble with heating up the metal to solder one joint, but find the rest of the tank is sucking up the heat or finding other joints coming loose? i'm not sure if the stuff is still around (if not, something similar should be), but they use to sell this clay-like stuff that you put on the metal around the area to be worked on so the surrounding areas don't heat up. not sure if it be worth looking into or not. maybe a good automotive shop might know about the stuff.
