I recently completed the turret on the Sherman and have finally
dredged up photos to share.
Rather than the traditional servo operated gun elevator, I rigged up
an overly complicated, yet very cool mechanical device.

The motor (right most) friction drives the threaded shaft, which moves
the white nylon block back and forth, which in turn raises and lowers
the arm that is shaped oddly enough as to avoid obstructing the
charging pin on the markers bolt.
Other than some issues with the mechanism binding up when raised or
lowered fully, it worked great.

Above is the interior of the turret including the 30rnd hopper + 9 in
the spring (feed tube) + 1 in the chamber for a total of 40rnds. Also
there is the door lock actuator operating in tandem with a pivoting
mechanism for trigger pull. And at the bottom of the photo is the
mounting bracket for the 9oz CO2 bottle which reqires a almost too
long coiled air hose (not pictured) to run the compressed gas back to
the marker.

A video is of course in order to show how well it all comes together.
At the moment the whole tank is running only on 12 volt, which
accounts for the slow speeds of the turret rotation, marker elevation,
track speeds...................... well, just about everything. New
bigger batteries are soon to be ordered to handle the increased duty
load of a 24v upgrade.
