Hi all, Was wondering how far away the radio controller(I think I'm using the right term...) can control a tank?
Since they are used for r/c planes, I imagine that they work at fairly far distances...Half mile, quater mile, a thousand feet?? My question kind of dovetails into this below... One of my pipe dreams is having an optics setup on the tank, where the operator sits remotely (in relation to his tank) to control it, relying solely on what he "sees" from his tank's onboard optics/cameras via a laptop interface. SO instead of each tank operator standing five or so feet from his vehicle-and getting a relatively easy view of the opponent tanks' positions, the operators all sit within five feet of each other, nowhere near their respective tanks (perhaps inside a tent-to totally obscure the view), and hunt for the other tanks via their tank's optics/cameras!! I guess this may stretch the limits of the radio controller, as some channels will be needed to control the cameras. I guess it depends on how many channels you can get on a radio controller...??? Sounds pretty neat, I think... Anyhow... the dream continues!! Thanks, Dave D. PS... Oh yeah, Derek, I was serious too, about your posting your explanation to the site. -- You are currently subscribed to the "R/C Tank Combat" group.
