Hurray! (don't get your hopes up, the Tiger isn't running ...... yet, but this gets me closer to doing so) just got back from the metal fabricator's (just down the road from me) and managed to talk to someone there (ended up being Randy again, he pointed me to another place for splining - that never got back to me) and i gave him the print outs of the parts i was looking to have made for the tank and he looked them over filling in anything i either forgot or didn't think of. he said he'd get back to me in the next few days as to prices. here is what i left with him: the first being for the road wheel suspension arm. it'll be out of aluminum (i don't care if it only saves me 2 or so pounds over steel, it's still that much less weight to have to pick up). they are going to give me quotes for both aluminum and steel and then what 16 completed assemblies would weigh (i thought that was rather nice of him to do)
this is what i came up with, this part will be welded to the lock split collars (Randy said the name of some place that makes them but has a rubber surface - i guess to hold them more securely? but i'll get the name from him when he calls and look them up). anyway, these are made to accept 2 of the springs i plan on using. if i find i only need one spring, i'll get another set made, but shorter and keep these for damn..... just thought of something, i meant to note that i wanted the ends of the bars (in the top drawing) to be rounded so there's no chance of them knocking into one another). guess i'll make another trip down there tomorrow.......
