Yes. If you build and operate a TD properly, it can compete against anything else. One advantage of a TD is that it forces you to keep the front of the vehicle pointed towards the opposition. One disadvantage is that it can't easily "track" vehicles at long range moving across the field. That can be offset somewhat by building a "pivot" mechanism for the gun, which allows you to accurate shoot stationary targets at a distance. When targets come in closer, pivoting the vehicle is faster and maintains your defensive posture, so there is no difference between a TD and turreted tank in short range engagements.
