The base pitch is 40. I use 41 chain for my drive train mated with a 41 pitch sprocket on the drive shaft and I think the M01 type geared motors use a 42 pitch sprocket. Now, the difference is the width of the rollers on the chain. That's where the 41 and 42 come into play. They are both 40 pitch (1/2"), just different widths.
