In most cases, brazing is strong enough. When I've brazed 3 mm sheet, the sheet has bent out of shape completely before the brazing has failed. I've only ever brazed with brass, and it works really well.
And yes, brazing is very easy, it's essentially soldering, but with a gas torch.
