I'm just using steel flat bar for my suspension arms with 1/2" carriage
bolts. I cut a square hole in the steel and the square under the carriage
bolt head interfaces with the square hole in the flat steel. The flat
steel is a little less than 1/4" thick by 1.25" wide.
