Hello all,
Just wanted to give a quick introduction now that I have joined the
list. My name is Mike Butts and I am active duty Navy and stationed in
Charleston, SC. I have been following RC Tank Combat since 2003 (near
end of high school) but have sunk my resources into RC Naval Combat.
Some might recognize me from various forums/ lists realted to Big Gun/
Fast Gun formats.

I have a fetish with all things Soviet and my very favorite tank is
the IS-3 (Iosif Stalin), aka JS-3. I have a great many drawings and
pictures of it. I have seen some 3D renderings of it but have had no
luck in contacting the person responsible so as to get their hull
dimensions. I have looked at all the links on the site and have yet to
come up with hull shapes/ angles for the IS-3. Only 2D drawings that
with some creative geometry I could come up with said dimensions. The
front of the tank is made up of 6 plates meeting at various angles. Is
it the most practical tank... nope. Is the turret going to be rather
complicated... oh yes. Am I going to consider any other tank...
absolutely not. My mantra is that if you don't love it... don't build
it. Because when you hit a snag you might quit.

My build will be slow and not due to start for about a year.
However, I can get a good plan together in the mean time and maybe
accumulate some good parts. Thanks for letting me join and I look
forward to gaining some knowledge!
