I am new to the hobby of Tanks. I have been working on a ΒΌ scale Sherman for
about 1 year and only joined this group 6 months ago. My biggest question
is; are there any members located in the Erie, Pa area?

This location in VA is a distance from me but not too far. May I suggest
that upcoming activities be listed 2 months ahead so maybe plans can be made
to attend the event?

Sounds like there are some good people in the hobby and would like to meet
or know them.

Thanks,

John ---- Sherman

Subject: [TANKS] Recruiting Event

Yesterday we participated in the annual open house at the Americans
in Wartime Museum. It was a beautiful day, mid 70's, blue sky. Frank, Will,
Steve, Paul and myself were kept busy all day. You can see just one of the
many Navarone operators we had from 10AM until 4PM. We went though at least
1500 rounds of paint. And at 10 rounds per gunner, that is a lot of gunners.

Steve again provided rides in the Cromwell Express. I believe a few
adults were thinking quite hard about taking a spin in the wagon. I ran my
PzII for over 90 minutes until the smallest screw backed out just enough to
allow a gearbox malfunction. To be remedied. Oh well, been wanting to have
a reason to tear something apart. It was going too smoothly. Batteries were
tested prior to my running in between all of the targets . Voltage on the
main batteries dropped 1.1 volts from 13.2 to 12.1. Separate 12 volt that
runs the boards dropped only .4 volts. From 13.4 to 13.0. Not bad for 90
minutes of run time. And it was similar to battle conditions. Moving to and
from from cover, change of direction when anticipating fire coming in .
Yes, my tank was a moving target worth 2 points. Was only hit 4 times.

The museum had plenty of events. The only time we were not packed was
during the live fire of weapons. Especially the FLAME THROWER. Lots of
black smoke and we could feel the heat, and we were about 50 yards away with
tanks in between. Oh yeah, the arrival and departure of the Huey was quite
impressive as it flew directly over us, less than 100 feet overhead.

A partial list of tanks on display,, 2 Shermans, Grant/Lee, Hetzer,
T34/85, Scorpion, Bren, Hellcat, M24 Chaffee, Priest,Chieftain, Valentine,
Stuart, . A contingent of British scout cars, not sure if they were Humbers
. And many assorted APC's.

Next year we'll post the date early enough for those that wish to attend
from other states. So, ya'll come down the ya'hear?
