Hey All, Incredible what you can piece together from the Internet!!
I got in contact with Mr. Porta - by phone... seems like a decent guy. He's in Canton NY, which is a stone's throw away from the Canadian border, about as far north you can go in New York state... It's a solid 8 hour ride from Canton to NYC, so I'm not too sure he's gonna be attending any RCTC battles anytime soon... Dang. And I was hoping he was closer to me (Long Island), to kinda get something going here up north, haha. Jeez, Maryland is alot closer to me than Canton is!! He didn't sound too interested in paintball competition, satisfied with bb shooting tanks... I tried!! He made it sound like his Tiger tank is abit rickety, he mentioned stuff being "glued" on. He did push seeing the pictures he has of his Leopard tank on Facebook, but I'm not a member of Facebook, and I don't ever intend to be one... But I did praise him for the fine build, from what I saw from the one picture of the Leopard that Alex found. He said he used motors from some scooter place online, 24v I believe he said. He's be into R/C since 1971, he told me. I mentioned RCTankCombat.com and he said he's seen the site, and has admired it's tech and how to pages... He gave me his e-mail address, so I guess I'll e-mail him and refer him to the e-mail group... Craig also gave me the last name of a guy in Connecticut that's into R/C tanks, and said he built an Armourtec Tiger. He made it sound like this guy goes for a lot of detail, and I know that these Armourtec kits ain't cheap, so I'm guessing that he probably doesn't want paint goo all over his pretty Tiger. Ahh, if I only could get paid to do this stuff...LOL.
