1) I Google’d papercraft tanks, found a cut-and-paste 1:25 model of an M4, paid Staples to enlarge it onto poster-paper, and planned to spray-adhesive the sheets onto 1/4 plywood to stitch/glue into a upper hull and turret. HOWEVER... because the plans are Russian, they are designed for European "A4" paper (8.3"x11.?") and our math was off. The finished product would be 1" too tall and 3" too long for 1:6 scale, and it would be a much later Sherman Firefly.
2) I found a group of guys in California that sell 1:6 Shermans, made of thick durable roto-molded plastic. The running gear isn't durable enough for R/C, but they offered me a plastic turret, some resin hatches, a handful of loose track and a spare roadwheel for about $150. I could bolt a plastic shell onto a functional lowerhull, and the plastic turret could be modified with a hot-wire knife. HOWEVER... the Sherman they sell is an M4A3, which was made of welded steel plates. If I wanted that, I could use 1/4 plywood. And the resin pieces would be great for adding realistic details, but contradict the rounded cast hull and turret which *may* deflect rounds. 3) If I invested a larger portion of my Build Money in dancing girls and rum, I would then specify "*good* rum (PYRAT) and *attractive* dancing girls (in 80's Sci-Fi metal bikinis)" and , again, over-specification limits my resources.
