>> Congrats on finding a tank even smaller the abominations dude.

Thank you, that was my goal ! Seriously, I was very jealous when I saw Joe,
Frank, or Paul pick up their tank so easily. You’ve seen Bad Kitty. I need help
getting it into and out of my car, and I use a hoist to get it from the floor
onto my workbench. I wanted something smaller and more manageable. I will miss
the “go absolutely anywhere” factor, though.

A while ago somebody proposed a rule change that would allow players to build
vehicles at any scale and give them defensive ratings based on their size. I
think that’s a good idea. It would let people build the tank they want at the
size they want. No more hunting for obscure tiny vehicles.

Thank you again ! I especially appreciate that compliment from you because of
your craftsmanship. This tank was new for me in that I used a CAD program,
GeoMagic Design, for the whole thing. It made a huge difference. I wish I’d
learned it years ago. It substantially cut down the trail-and-error iterations
I would always go through before using CAD. I still had some screw-ups, but not
nearly as many or as bad.

5000, 110, looks like the same vehicle to me. Congrats on finding a tank even
smaller the abominations dude. Nice fabrication skills on display also.

Hi Steve –

Your picture shows a VPX-500, which didn’t make it into production. That’s a
shame because the 5000 is much cooler looking than its older brother, the
VPX-110. I’d prefer to model after the 5000 if the “tank authorities” will
approve for a modest “consideration fee”. Say, some form of alcohol ….

The 110 featured a turret with two Milan missile launchers. Still a tank by our
rules:

Rocket launcher or turret?

It’s the chassis for my new tank, “Small Fry”. It also shows a test of the new
track system with attachment chain and injection molded grousers. It works
great so far ! I was a little too aggressive and I got stuck in the deep snow
and slush but it did great otherwise. I especially like that the tracks stay on
without a lot of tension.

The tank is a VPX-110 from the late 70’s. The French exported a few to their
customers, and also built a mortar carrier version of it.
