Don Charuk is correct. There is no equivalent to AACR2 21.23C1, so a performer of a "sound recording containing works by different persons" is not recorded in the 1XX field of an RDA record. AACR2 21.23C1 is not talking about adaptations of work, it is talking about the performance of *works* by different persons, so the RDA instruction about adaptations is not the equivalent.
RDA has nothing to say about classification, so on that issue, libraries are certainly free to continue to shelve these materials using the principal performer as the basis for the cutter.
