It looks like it is backing up your /dev directory on the server
'palace' -- is this correct? Does that fit with how you are running
rdiff-backup?
If so, how many files are in your /dev directory? There's a fix in
rdiff-backup 1.1.16 for a situation in which a KeyError can occur when
there are around 1999 files in a single directory. I'm not positive
that that is the same error you are getting, but it does produce
similar symptoms.
