Last night's backup failed with

Exception 'CRC check failed 0xe2fb8f18 != 0x7bf2bbdbL' raised of class '<type 'exceptions.IOError'>':

Following instructions in the wiki, I ran

find rdiff-backup-data -type f -name \*.gz -print0 | xargs -0r gzip --test

and it found a file that seems to have been improperly closed

gzip: rdiff-backup-data/file_statistics.2009-09-17T02:15:50-05:00.data.gz: unexpected end of file

What is the best way to recover from this? Just delete the file? Regress to the previous backup? Does this error mean that the whole backup for the night is likely to be corrupted? And how can I check that my backups are in a consistent state and are usable?
