I've tried replacing it with:
/usr/bin/rdiff-backup --api-version 201 remove --remove-older-than 8W
--force some_server::some_path/rdiff/
usage: rdiff-backup remove [-h] {increments} ...
rdiff-backup remove: error: argument entity: invalid choice: '8W'
(choose from 'increments')

Should be fixed when version 2.4 is released. For the time being, just
modify your scripts to add the "--api-version 201" option.
