This year we will be running two training workshops on the day before the
2018 RDKit UGM in Cambridge: one on using the RDKit in Python, the other on
using the RDKit in KNIME. Both workshops are free, but have a limited
number of slots available (it's really hard to do a good interactive
workshop with too many attendees!). In order to try and manage the capacity
problem, we are doing *all* eventbrite registrations via waiting list.
Please sign up by putting yourself on the waiting list; we will let you
know ASAP when we have the actual attendees assigned.

Many thanks to Andrew and Daria for offering these workshops!

*Please note* that registering for a workshop does *not* register you for
the RDKit UGM. To do that, please go to this page:

Getting started with the RDKit and the Python ecosystem
Instructor: Andrew Dalke

It can be a bit overwhelming trying to figure out how to get started with
Python for cheminformatics. In this one day course we'll cover the basics
of programming in Python, using the Jupyter notebook environment and the
RDKit toolkit. The goal is to get you on a sound footing, and oriented so
you know where to go to find more information. During the day you'll also
get hands-on experience with some of the popular Python packages, including
Pandas for data analysis and scikit-learn for machine learning, and learn
how to install packages.

This course is meant for people who are familiar with the command-line
shell and who have some programming experience, that is, people who know
about variables, for-loops, if-statements, and functions.

You will need to bring your own computer, with Python 3.6 already
installed. We will provide instructions and some support by email to help
you get things set up.

The RDKit and KNIME: Hands on!
Instructor: Daria Goldmann

In our hands-on workshop you'll learn to build interactive cheminformatics
workflows and applications using the RDKit and KNIME Analytics Platform.
We'll cover a diverse set of topics such as data manipulation and
filtering, descriptors and fingerprints, machine learning and clustering,
data set visualization and exploration. After completing this hands-on
session you'll have a fully functional workflow and will have learned how
to start from scratch to build your own.

In this workshop we will assume that you have basic KNIME knowledge
already; you don't need to be an expert, but we won't be explaining things
like how to add nodes to a workflow or read and write files.

You will need to bring your own computer, ideally with KNIME already
installed. We will provide instructions and some support by email to help
you get things set up.
