Hi Fàbio, There isn’t a straightforward way to define this kind of transformation as a reaction SMARTS. You would have to define reactions for all possible ring sizes that you would want to “remove”.
It sounds like you are trying to reproduce the behavior of the original ScaffoldTree algorithm; do I understand that correctly?
