I am wondering about the effort and embedded energy put forth to test for NABCEP [at least for those of us on the other side of the Continental Divide]. Has this happened to you too?
We gathered 7 people from 5 companies on the Western slope of CO to test for both PV & Thermal with the promise from NABCEP that if we got 5 people we could test at an approved location on the western slope of Colorado [ we are all 9 to 12 hours roundtrip from the test site in Denver CO. time ]. We met this parameter and then Rebecca Eaton Director of NABCEP rescinded the offer. A lot of us would not have signed up if this offer to test 1.5 hours away vs. the trip to Denver was not offered. The trip now involves 2 days of driving, 1 test day and 2 nights in hotels plus the usual in meals out, etc. To me after 20 years in this business of working for trying to shift how we all use energy on this planet, as you all do too, to have the long desired National Certification for both Thermal and PV available and to have to sink that much energy into just travel due to an inflexible testing entity is kind of an insult to our combined focus. Is this testing service our test service or what? As long as I am expressing frustration I would like to bring up the 6 month interval on the Nabcep test too. Does this work for all of you?
