Looking at Bob-O's original response his peeve was different than his concern about proper cable use and I share his peeve because a customer looking to get information from a solar business is going to a consider a source with the title of "Lead PV Installer" and expect a level of training and code compliant expertise that isn't evident in the question. The peeve Bob-O expressed was about someone with that title in in the PV business not knowing the compliance issues and the answer Bob-O gave had to do with compliance issues.
A question of "we're a new company (and/or) we've never done a battery install having concentrated on grid-tie until recently and..." is entirely different than what was asked. I don't think Bob-O's peeve was at all out of line. I think the rush to grid-tie, as appropriate as it is to the times, has created a lot of people in the industry who could benefit from time spent with old-line off-grid installers who've "been there, done that" and have a wealth of knowledge that might benefit those whose exposure to the business came in a later era with different markets. It is the same type used in the robotic welding machines and similar applications. Although Bob-o might have come across a bit angry, I have to agree with his opinion on the codes for welding cable not being "legal". .................................................................................................
