Hi Jeff and Wrenches - We have all sorts of residential SHW water systems installed around the Bay Area.
Here is a link to download a zip file with some pics: http://luminalt.com/temp/luminaltshw.zip You're all welcome to check out the pics if you're interested - note that the file is about 16 megs for those of you with dial up. Jeff, if you are looking for anything more specific let me know. All the pictures are of closed loop glycol systems with either Schuco or Heliodyne components. Overall, we've been happy with both Schuco and Heliodyne. Each manufacturer has their pros and cons, I could go on and on. Have fun with the article! I designed large commercial and institutional size solar hot water heaters for hospitals, YMCA's, and military base laundries back in the mid 70's with arrays up to 10,000 sq.ft., but did not design and install many smaller residential systems, so I have very limited photos of smaller systems. Also, all my photos show solar controllers and tanks from companies no longer in business. Since all of my work today is pv, I have no recent SHW photos. I need a few very high quality photos showing roof mounted solar panels, a solar hot water tank, a solar-pump packaged control system, and drain back tank. I will also be discussing newer system designs, plus review the basic designs like batch heaters, anti-freeze systems, and drain-back systems. Of course I will only be able to use a few photos, but any photo used will indicate who supplied the photo. I will also include a list of web sites for sources of systems and supplies, so if anyone wants to tell me which systems or brands they found to be a problem, and which systems they had good experience, I will also include this information. In my part of the country most of the systems we use are drain back, but there are a few anti-freeze systems. We don't see any batch heaters or drain-down systems here, but you may have these in your part of the country. Thanks for your help, and please contact me off list if you send photos, Jeff Yago DTI Solar 804-457-9566 [email protected] _____________________________________________________________ Netscape.
