We are using a cable listed by SAE for automotive applications. It is abrasion, acid and fuel resistant. We like the cable and think it is entirely adequate, but it does not have a UL listing. Examining cables supplied by OutBack and Xantrex, we see UL listings for MTW, THW or AWM. Regarding MTW and THW, the 2005 NEC indicates these wires do not have acid resistance as a property. Regarding AWM, it is apparently not intended for field installation as indicated by the passage found at this link: http://www.ul.com/global/eng/pages/offerings/industries/wireandcable/ Have any of you faced these issues? What cable are you using and where do you purchase it?
