Friends:
We are just now starting to install quantities of the new solar World
SW30-mono modules. While they are more watts than previous models, they
are heavier and larger. Adding to the difficulty of lifting them, they are
packaged with a new method using plastic clips to lock them together. The
pallets fit neatly into the back of a trailer with the short dimension
presented for lifting off the stack. It is next to impossible for one
person to lift a module and disengage the clips from that position. We
invented a trick today:
We had some scraps of 1-1/2" PVC laying near by. Holding a section of PVC
about 48" long, I lifted the back end of a module and rolled the PVC about
half way under it, bridging the width of the next lower module. I was able
to lever the top module on the PVC fulcrum, disengage the clips and roll
the module back to where I could more easily lift it. I could also tip the
module up onto it's side with the weight of the module resting on the PVC
until I could support the weight.
I hope this tip is useful and eases your load just a little.
