I'm curious as to what (other) iphone apps may be out there for solar evaluation. I just downloaded the SMA Solarchecker (free) but haven't played with yet. I use something called "Sun Seeker" regularly. Amongst other things you can take a photo with the sun path imposed on it, summer and winter solstice, and any other day. It doesn't do shading analysis but is a good general evaluation tool. For $3 it's worth it.
