Mick, Years ago Ezra Auerbach told me about Solarex having made bunches of bad modules in the early 90s. The modules had correct Voc and Isc but essentially a flat I/V curve. He said he stopped using any Solarex back then because they didn't recall a product with a known and acknowledged defect. I bought a used system in 2001 that had 12 MSX64s with this characteristic. I contacted someone at Solarex or BP - but the contact name is long gone, as is Solarex - and all were replaced with new stock. They asked for 4 to be sent back for testing, as I recall. The catch is that modules back then came with ten year warranties, not today's 25, and I was 9 1/2 years into it with these. I suspect that your customer is out of luck at this point. I know BP bought Solarex but who is the contact person or department within BP to handle an inherited warranty claim such as this one? Kindly furnish name, phone, and email address if possible. Thanks, Mick Abraham, Proprietor www.abrahamsolar.com Voice: 970-731-4675 _______________________________________________ List sponsored by Home Power magazine List Address: [email protected] Options & settings: http://lists.re-wrenches.org/options.cgi/re-wrenches-re-wrenches.org List-Archive: http://lists.re-wrenches.org/pipermail/re-wrenches-re-wrenches.org List rules & etiquette: www.re-wrenches.org/etiquette.htm Check out participant bios: www.members.re-wrenches.org |
