I second Dana's suggestion.  We've used high-temperature foil tape on PV here (for attaching temp sensors), and it's been working for years.  I'm aware of two grades: the kind with soft sticky foam; and the type with a moderately solid (but pliable) adhesive ours was gray in color).  We use the latter.  The former didn't survive our Texas heat.  Got our tape at HD, but any big-box probably carries it.  Also .. the adhesive is electrically insulating, so no contact issues with exposed sensors (thermocouples in our case).

Have you tried the aluminum foil type of duct tape with the peel off wax protective paper over the adhesive. It seems to be virtually impervious to heat or cold, though I have not tried to apply it to the back of a PV module.

I keep it on the raft for all sort of repairs that get very hot & wet.

Typically available at sheet metal shops, Home Cheapo, plumbing suppliers, & some hardware outlets.

Please let us know if this works.

Hello Wrenches,

Does anyone have any good ideas for mounting thermocouples or RTD’s to the back of modules for cell temperature measurements?

I’ve seen electrical tape used (obviously the results were terrible), thermally conductive epoxy from Omega Instruments ($$) used, some kind of foil tape (electrically questionable).

Any recommendations?

Bubble gum?
