Hey Carl,
Li ion batteries are awesome and will be used extensively in the first
generation of electric cars (supposedly) coming to a showroom near you.
However, a pack like the one you've described will only be affordable to those
with the ability to buy a super yacht, not 98 % of the customers we deal with.
I doubt there is an algorithm available in a CC that can handle Li ion.

Hi there,
I notice Mastervolt have a new range of Li Ion batteries, I know of a 3000Ah
24V bank going into a super yacht.
Is this not a battery technology worthy of consideration as well?
Each cell block has built in electronic regulation for individual cells.
They boast of high efficiency, deep discharge, light weight and long life.

Lead cadmium or lead calcium? Again, I do not have the cycle chart handy, but
hopefully James can post that.

Todd,
Can you give us a comparison of lead vs lead cadmium?
My understanding is that lead cadmium are suited for standby operations such
as telecomm back up. That means spending most of the time in float, with
occasional short term high discharge rate with very high DOD available.
How well do they cross over into a daily-cycle off-grid situation with
moderate daily DOD?

I know many on this list disagree, but this sounds SO typical for sealed
batteries. It is why I never use em... never! If they are 5 years old, you are
probably at the limit of their life. Replace em with flooded lead calciums and
your customers (and you) will be happy for 20+ years.
