Chris, One of our customers had this problem in outdoor lighting in Las Vegas. He switched to Lithium-Ion batteries from K2 in Henderson NV and says they have been working well for 3 years in desert heat. They make small 12 volt packs with built-in charge control and discharge protection. They may be a good choice if the system is under 100 amp hours. David Katz AEE Solar

The Yuasa batteries they've been using are only rated to 50C and don't last long (and thus, are cost-prohibitive to use and replace). The MK AGMs are also only rated to 50C.
