Bill, Jay's idea of trying the other AC input is a good one, if you're not also grid-connected and if you're not using the inverter to send a start signal, either manually or automatically. The 8.5 RMY has very good regulation, so if it tests out for voltage and frequency, that's probably not the issue. And even at high elevation, the 8.5 can easily handle max AC input that the SW4024 can draw - which Christopher Freitas tells me calculates out to 5647 W. If you end up replacing it, either one would work fine. But why not consider a Magnum MS4024PAE, which has split-phase 120/240. Then the transformer is taken out of the system completely. Generally panels set up for straight 120 VAC can handle 120/240 without a hitch. The 8.5 can easily be reconfigured to split-phase as well. As a rule of thumb, it takes about 2 kW of sine-wave inverter capacity per pump HP; 2.5 kW if mod-square, like DR. That's for a standard 3-wire capacitor-start submersible. I'd be interested in knowing where other Wrenches are finding SW parts and service. We haven't had need for it recently, but still expect to be able to get service through Inverter Service Company in Albuquerque, a division of Direct Power & Water. Where else is service available, assuming someone has kept the original box for shipping? I have a good used takeout unit if that's your customer's preference, although no box. Contact me off-list if this is of interest, and you have a box. Allan
