I just returned from northern BC Canada, wiring wooden wall tent platforms for lights. I searched all over the NEC for rules regarding wiring tents, and couldn't find a single reference! Go figure.
The tents are spread out away from the power center, so it's 120vac from a 1kW Magnum MME inverter (I really like these for remote installations, along with Morningstar SureSine....we had to backpack the inverter 4 miles after a 1 mile canoe trip across a lake). Incidentally, I ran underground direct-bury romex, then conduit up the sides of the tent platforms to outdoor outlets with the weather shield covers screwed into the wood platform legs, and power strips in the tents plugged into these outlets.
