Dear Folks:

Generally with wire runs being short from battery to inverter (in this case SMA 
SI) we prefer the largest conductor possible.

Inverters don't like being choked off by wire loss when big loads or 
significant charging needs the amps.

2 X 2/0 sounds like a great minimum to me, and yes I am a fanatic.

Yet the wire run being short means the cost for wire is not huge.

Our battery based inverters tend to run very well.
