Hi Jeff W.

Great!  Thanks - just what the doctor ordered.

Question though - do the pass thru lugs allow then even more than 70 Amps backfeed?  In essence like a supply tap?

In the Eaton catalogs it still shows "200 Amp rated" on that unit.  I haven't been able to find a schematic that shows the 270 Amp rating applied to exactly which bus bars or conductors.

But I take your word for it!  Though the Service Entrance electrician would love to see specs or drawings confirming that.

I'm glad to further look for docs but thought you might have already nabbed them?

Thanks again Jeff!

Jeff C.

Although not marketed for PV, the Eaton Cutler Hammer Ranch Panel CMBER88B200BTS has a 270 amp rating and comes with a 200 amp main breaker with space for a 70 amp secondary main breaker space(a tap between the meter and the main breaker) as well as pass through lugs and 8 more breaker spaces.  The local Platt stocks them at less than $300.  We have used them for several service upgrades and love them.

Jeff,

This has been sent out on the list a few times but I don't remember anyone sharing their personal experiences with it:

200+ 60 for a meter main is trickier. The $1100 (list) Schneider RC2M200S lets you do a 200A main and a 50A PV breaker (interconnecting on line side of the 200A), which may be close enough for you depending on your system details (10kWac @ 240V -> >52.1A breaker).

Hey Wrenchies,

Anybody know of a 200 Meter base with lugs rated for dual wire so we can
do a 60 Amp Supply side solar feed on a 200 Amp service?

Or does anyone know the right equip to get to ensure we can install 2
dual lug taps on both single lugs? (a meter base with enough room for
the T lugs?)

Or better yet any integrated 200 Amp Service / Meter equipment that has
an accessible spot to tap 60 Amps for a Disconnect on the meter side of
the Main?

I have 2 SB 2500Us existing and want to add a single SB 5000TLUS - I
show rated output to be 46 Amps total and hence a 60 Amp needed.

Advice my esteemed colleagues?

Thanks,

Jeff
