I should have mentioned that our installation is not a metal roof either. Ours is a flat foam roof with large tilt racked arrays of SunPower modules.
I've spoken with SMA tech support twice on this and got the idea that either I have a real ground fault or that there is some sort of inductance related problem that they don't necessary have a fix for yet. And this is not a metal roof; it's PanelClaw on EPDM. We're having an interesting issue with one of the new Sunny Tri-Power inverters (a 24 kW unit in this case) where we get an error "residual current too high." We've only done a little troubleshooting so far but I don't think we have a ground fault. Just a fast thought. bob *From:* [email protected] [ mailto:[email protected]<[email protected]>] *On Behalf Of *Marco Mangelsdorf *Sent:* Thursday, March 13, 2014 10:31 PM *To:* 'RE-wrenches' *Subject:* [RE-wrenches] Unusual problem with SMA TL inverter on metal roof Friends, We have run across an odd technical problem at our commercial install at a laundromat on our island. Attached is the description of the issue from SMA. We don't know much except that we are switch out the TL inverters to the old style US inverters because SMA has no fix for the phantom ground tripping. The issue is beyond our feeble understanding. Any observations to share? Thanks, marco ------------------------------ No virus found in this message.
