I guess I will go with the 250 V glass fuses. For
24 V systems, DC fuses are readily available at
auto parts stores. It seems wonkey to use fuses
not rated for DC applications, but if they hold at 144 VDC, I'm sold.
There is no code issue at present. Has anyone had
problems with inspectors using these.
Thanks to all who shared their knowledge, on and off the list.

We've used the inline glass fuses for metering
and battery fan applications for 20 years
without trouble. I certainly wouldn't use them
over 5 amps though. I actually tested these
inline fuses on a 144 vdc vehicle battery bank
once, and they blew without arcing or
burning. Of Course my name is not
UL. However, this is also the fuse that comes
with Trimetric, Victron E-meters, and the Zephyr
power vents, currently. Also, glass fuses were
used in many DC power centers back in the day,
so they have a long and proven track record in
the 48 v dc solar industry for low amp applications.
I found a standard fuse holder from Grainger
that is rated for 300 Vdc. The regular AGC
fuse does not list a DC rating, which is odd,
since it is used for DC all the time. The ABC
fuses are listed to 125 vdc and are fast acting.

Hello Wrenches,
I'm looking for in line fuse and fuse holders
for a 48 VDC systems in the 1 - 4 Amp rating.
The systems can go 67 VDC. FRN-R fuses have
this rating but are slow blow, 8 seconds at 500% current rating.
Is a glass fuse and in line fuse holder,
listed for this voltage and amperage,
available anywhere? It seem that the default
is to use 250 VAC glass fuses and holders,
which seems like a questionable practice to me.
