There is not much worse than sea level on a boat. In those cases we keep everything out of the sun. The few exposed parts need a sacrificial covering that is easily replaceable. My mountain solar gear up around 10,000 in the national park has fibrous cement cover over the exposed pvc black taped insulation in Drainback applications.
