Chris, What AHJ are you designing this for? We're only required to follow this IFC section in certain cities. Keep in mind there is a 2018 IFC as well as older versions. The 2018 is more favorable to us as designers and installers as it's not simply a 36" setback but in some cases can be as little as 18" at the ridgeline.
