Jay,

I use Stecca. They are designed for what you want, they are bulletproof,
soft start from a car battery. They are 12V or 24V. Some of my clients use
them for long summer drives to Costco. Just load it in the back of the
truck and plug into a cigarette lighter. I think the max I ever see is 45
watts. They can be set as a freezer or reefer and anywhere in between.
There is a reason the german engineering is worth paying for.
