Hi Esteemed Wrenches,
Does anyone have an experience with using the BatFan relay function on
the Sunny Island Relays?
I'm familiar with setting a voltage point for a relay to control a
battery box fan but I'm unfamiliar with how the BatFan functions works.
The only setting I can find on the SI menus related to BatFan is battery
temp. But then elsewhere I read that the SI will turn on the fan
anytime there is gassing. Surely it can't be determining when it's
gassing from only battery temp?
Or like in true SI fashion is there some complicated and thorough
algorithm functioning that's is tracking the charge cycles and voltage?
But no where to set those parameters?
Also - I've read through a few conflicting methedologies for calculating
CFM needed for any given battery bank to clear the Hydrogen.
Zephyr says that there fans are designed for battery packs 2000
Amp-Hours or less charging at 150 Amps or less.
I have a largish off-grid system (18KW) with 2490 AH (20hr) of batts set
to charge at 200 Amps max.
Should I be revisiting those calcs and see if I can find a definitive
methodology or will using 2 48 Volt Zephyrs do the trick?
Thanks!
Jeff
