We've used a variety of directional wifi extenders with external antenna and have had a 100% success rate.

The home's WiFi signal dies out about 10 from the Envoy's signal. Has anyone had success extending the range of the either the home's or Envoy's range. I have tried various range extenders and none have made any difference. Enphase support suggested buying their cellular modem, but it only a 5 year product. No word back yet on what happens after that.
