I have run the AES battery without any coms in a system that was hit by
lightning. The battery survived but there was damage to most of the other
equipment that was on. It will work and charge correctly if you can program
the exact voltages required. So, no you can't use defaults. The controller
or charger in the in inverter needs to be able to program a custom battery.
