The old gray box XW's never really were designed for AC coupling. It could be made to work with a xantrex grid inverter but most were told to upgrade to the white box XW+ and XWpro.
I doubt anyone would notice the XW+ or pro when it shifts a couple hz to protect the battery after it is charged. The result was something that I would never want to duplicate for a customer owing mainly to the flickering of lights during the daytime when the XW is shifting frequency. I'm curious if the newer Enphase IQ and Schneider XW equipment behave better in an AC coupling scenario. Can the newer Schneider inverters cue the micros to taper their output and are there any downsides to power quality that the customer might notice during an outage? Hoping to glean some real-world observations.
