Quite a few of my friends and clients are involved in this disaster, now the largest fire in California history. I told many of them of what they can do to clean the air in their space. I hope this is useful to Wrenches!
Home Depot has the US made (metal case) Lasco box fan. If you tape a MRVE 13 furnace/AC filter on it you can get near hospital quality air. MRVE is filtration rating. I have seen these white filters turn black in 2 days in closed houses. If you cool the home with a mini-split or ?, you will pressurize the home and if it is a sealed home, keep the smoke out. The combo of the box fan and cooling will be good for anyone. We used one in the garage to sleep 15 fireman a few years back. Home Depot also has a mobile app you can order and have items brought out to your vehicle in their parking lot. Please check stock first. If you can't get MRVE 13 filters, anything will help above MRVE 8 filtration. A 21" x 21" is actually the perfect size as it will be sucked on by the fan and you do not need to tape it.
