I suspect that if you didn’t hear about it, you might not have any effected
batteries.

The recall has been disorganized. We had about 7 batteries under recall. LGC
had some 3rd party outfit that was going to go to customer homes and do the
swap-out and we said, “oh, no…we’ll replace the batteries for our customers
thank you.”

I still have three batteries with unconfirmed replacement. The shortage of old
style Resu10 batteries means they must, in their own words, buy these batteries
off the open market place to provide back to us and end consumers under recall.
Crazy.

Now I am a big fan of the LG Prime 16 so far. Nice looking package and just the
right amount of storage. But the LG oversight of the recall could have been
done better especially comms with installers that didn’t have recalls so they
could allay fears of homeowners that might have read a headline and wondered if
their battery was a safety hazard.

Subject: [RE-wrenches] LG Energy Solution Battery Recall

Whoa...amazing that almost 1/2 year after the recall that I'm now just hearing
about this.

How has LGC been as far as responsive and easy to work with on this recall?

Wrenches,

I testted the RESU 10 48V here for Schneider back in 2017. LG never really
wanted to know the root cause of the failure and cancelled the use of XW with
their battery. One of my Austrailian friends sent me this about the recall.

In December last year, LG Energy Solution triggered a voluntary recall in the
USA
<https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2020/lg-energy-solution-michigan-recalls-home-energy-storage-batteries-due-to-fire-hazard>
  after receiving five reports of fires resulting in minor property damage.
These incidents were associated with LG Chem RESU 10H residential energy
storage systems with specific serial numbers sold from January 2017 through
March 2019. The recall involved around 1,800 battery systems.

On Friday, a recall notice was posted on the Product Safety Australia web site
for the following models with cells manufactured between March 2017 and
September 2018 from certain production lots.

*       RESU7H_Type R
*       RESU10
*       RESU10H Type-C
