Now I remember you can jumper L1 & L2 together at the generators breaker(that
parallels the stators), then just have a L1 / N/ G to the house. Should be good
after programming the gennys controller to 120vac output.

The last one I set up like that, Tech Support said with the RES and RESA, you
don’t need to physically change wires, just reprogram the controller and wire
to leg one.. but that was a few moons back.. good luck

Hey All,
I have a customer who just replaced their old standby Kohler 8.5 RMY (20 years
old) with 12RES. The 8.5 was stator-lead wired for 120vac @ full power. for the
sake of the inverters input. Remember those days?

I'm looking at the RES service manual, and there is no description of having
this option(the old manual had a wiring diagram of stator and breaker config
for 120v). The digital controller can be programmed for 120vac, but obviously
the stator leads need to be reconnected from the factory setup of 120/240. This
was a simple thing on the older models via terminal strip.

Is this field rewiring still a OK thing to do from a warranty perspective? AND
I have not looked inside at the access of the wiring on a terminal strip yet.
Some genny person installed it without knowing the old genny's wiring at 120v.
Thanks fellow old timers.
