Every now and then I get questions here in the land of hurricanes and golf courses about using golf carts as the battery bank for a permanently mounted grid-tie home PV system in a backup scenario. Does anyone have any ideas on a good way to do something like this? The battery would need to be able to be unplugged of course (not under load I hope!) It's mostly DIY'ers trying to cobble together a solution for a small critical load panel for their home.
The idea is becoming more popular as people hear about using EVs for home backup. I'd like to get ahead of it and maybe even offer a solution that's safe, legal, and functional. Jason Szumlanski Florida Solar Design Group
