Definitely get a good test ! If you do go rainwater and have copper water pipes, you need to be very careful with LOW PH rainwater !

 Might have to raise PH or lose copper piping with rain.

Multipage test results for lots of different stuff in water talk with them about what you have and what test they would suggest.

With the data they provide you from can narrow down what it is that you are wanting to be rid of & this opens up the options for treatment & filtration.

I filter for 2 specific items: very light arsenic [1 refillable cartridge for this] & sulfur dioxide [we have hot springs down 600' below the surface & at high water times of the year slight sulfur smell turns out a carbon filter eliminates this]. 2 issues & 2 filters, done.

I hope this helps & does not muddy the water, Ha!
